A lovely flat walk along the costal foreshore path from Itchenor to East Head at West Wittering, so this really is a walk to please everyone, but bear in mind the distance if taking little ones. The route is are only to and from the entrance to East Head spit, so once you have wandered along the fabulous sandy beach, looked at the boats and explored the dunes it can easily become a ten mile walk.
Set off from the car park at Itchenor and follow the signs out along the fotpath at the far side of the car park. Alternatively head back out to the road and bear left at the Harbour office and follow the path through the boatyard and past the Quarter Deck Cafe. Then simply follow the coastal path along the harbour until you get to the West Wittering car park where the path leads onto East Head. After a relaxing beach break head back up the path, but this time carry on past the boat yard into Itchenor for rewarding refreshments at The Ship Inn – where they also serve great food.
Parking in the car park is a very reasonable £5 for up to 12 hours so it’s a great day out with no rush.
