Why Walk?

Because it’s so GOOD  for you!

The benefits of walking are well documented, and with so few restrictions as to who can take part, regular walking will really help avoid a sedentary lifestyle.

According to the NHS:

Walking is simple, free and one of the easiest ways to get more active, lose weight and become healthier. Walking briskly can help you build stamina, burn excess calories and make your heart healthier.

A brisk walk is about 3 miles an hour, which is faster than a stroll, you can tell you’re walking briskly if you can still talk but cannot sing the words to a song.

But you do not have to walk for hours. A brisk 10-minute daily walk has lots of health benefits and counts towards your recommended 150 minutes of weekly exercise.

Why We Love It

Before we started walking regularly, the short stroll to our local curry house always seemed a bit daunting. It’s about a mile!

Now that mile is little more than a warm up and, although we often don’t want to go, after that warm up we hit our stride and really start to enjoy it. We have lost weight, toned up a little, feel happier and more positive, and started to change some of our snacking habits for the better.
