We set off to explore the Thorney Island Loop walk in the hope of spotting some of the Chichester Harbour seals, but we were pushed for time so we switched to explore Chidham, and what a lovely little find. The walk is just under five miles and takes around an hour and a half, burning about 650 calories in about 9.75k steps.
As it’s coastal the paths are very flat and easy to walk. There are fabulous views across the harbour to Bosham Quay and further down you can see across to Itchenor. The path is easy to follow although some of it is along the foreshore so check the tide times before you go, although it’s not covered for long so if you get it wrong just wait a while and it will soon dry out enough for you to get round.
Start off in the Cobnor Farm Amenity Car Park, parking is free but spaces are limited. Get the location and the walk map by clicking the link below, then head south from the car park to start your walk. If you are concerned about the state of the tide also check the times on the weather link below before you go.
On your way back through the village you can slake your thirst or get a bite to east at The Old House at Home, and have a look at the very pretty St Mary’s Church on your way back to the car.
